Stellina Dessert Cafe Open On Allen Street

Stellina is now open at 95 Allen Street, serving ice cream, cookies, cakes and more.  Stellina, and the successful Sorella restaurant next door,  is owned by Emma Hearst, the great-great granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst. Read the Stellina review from the NY Times…

“The ice cream here follows three schools of thought. There are pure flavors like fior di latte, so delicate and pretty, or dark chocolate sorbetto, as dense as a reduction. There are composed flavors like coconut stracciatella (coconut gelato with chocolate flakes) or Giandujotto (named for a candy from Turin), hazelnut gelato with fudge.”

The Final Phase Of The High Line

Phase 2 of the High Line is set to open on June 8, but here’s a great piece with lots of photos of what may eventually be the 3rd and final phase of The High Line, running from 30th to 34th Street. Go to Untapped New York for more…

“Section 2 of the High Line may be opening soon, but we went to check out controversial Section 3, along Hudson Yards. This section isn’t owned by the city yet–which means it could still be demolished–but in July 2010 it passed the ULURP review process. This means the city can now proceed with the option of purchasing and hopefully developing this final section of the High Line.”
