Museum Seeks Smaller Name For New Mega Dinosaur

The American Museum of Natural History is showcasing a new exhibit called The World’s Largest Dinosaurs, now through January 2, 2012. The centerpiece of the exhibit is the 60 foot long Mamenchisaurus. Read all about the museum’s naming contest for this over-sized dinosaur, as well as more about this exhibit, at DNA info…

The dinosaur’s given name is a mouthful that doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, said the museum spokeswoman Anne Canty. So the museum is looking for a catchy nickname. In this show there are hardly any fossils and bones because it’s really about the way dinosaurs lived,” Canty said. “People have come away really fascinated with this animal.”
